Robert Burns – Born January 25, 1759

Tonight is Burns Night. It celebrates Robert Burns Bard of Ayrshire on the day of his birthday January 25th of each year. Burns is regarded as the National Poet of Scotland and though his poetry is difficult to read and understand; if you are working on your Scottish accent… his poetry drips with it. Instead of noteworthy today I will post part of Tam O’ Shanter

Tam O’ Shanter

But to our tale:—Ae market night,
Tam had got planted unco right,
Fast by an ingle, bleezing finely,
Wi’ reaming swats that drank divinely;
And at his elbow, Souter Johnie,
His ancient, trusty, drouthy crony:
Tam lo’ed him like a vera brither;
They had been fou for weeks thegither.
The night drave on wi’ sangs and clatter;
And ay the ale was growing better:
The landlady and Tam grew gracious
Wi’ secret favours, sweet, and precious:
The souter tauld his queerest stories;
The landlord’s laugh was ready chorus:
The storm without might rair and rustle,
Tam did na mind the storm a whistle.
To view the entire poem.

Critics! Those cut-throat bandits in the paths of fame.

Patton Oswalt

Patton Oswalt - Born January 27, 1969 As a professed stand-up comedy addict, Patton Oswalt is one of my drugs of choice. I really dig smart humor and when a comedian uses language well, wraps their humor and stories back around to a common thread, and at the end don't...
