Mike Rowe

Born March 18, 1962

Dirty Jobs is still my favorite Mike Rowe vehicle.

Noteworthy

  • Dirty Jobs – Rowe got down and dirty doing those jobs that you probably would not want to do and in some cases, jobs that you didn’t even know were being done, to begin with.
  • The Way I Heard It – Short form, quick podcast for those with a curious mind and short attention span. Once a week. Mike Rowe does his own version of Paul Harvey’s “The rest of the story.”
  • Mike Rowe Works Foundation –  A trade resource center was launched by Rowe to provide information, resources, and forums for people interested in learning about or pursuing a career in, the trades. Those physical trades that are a dying art in America.

I can say the willingness to get dirty has always defined us as a nation, and it’s a hallmark of hard work and a hallmark of fun, and dirt is not the enemy.

What if the Flintstones Were More Realistic?

Slate.com had a great review of DC Comics new version of The Flintstones. Gone is the goofy group of cave people that lived in a little town called bedrock. Wilma and Fred are still here but they are less like the Honey Mooners and more up to date in a 1 million year...

Sean Astin Born February 25, 1971   Sean Astin is, was, and will always be the leader of the Goonies for me. As a kid, hell right now, I would follow Mikey into the pits of hell to find One-Eyed Willy's treasure. I still pine for a Goonies 2 and I still want Brand to...

Binge Watching TV

Right now my wife and I are stuck in the middle of another binge watching spree. We have been binge watching TV now for several years and by years I mean since we got married in 2010. With today's busy schedules, with the fact that as a society you have to fit in...

Top 5 Kevin Smith Movies

I have a bit of a problem when it comes to Kevin Smith projects. By projects, I am including any directing, writing, acting, podcast, whatever. I am a devotee. He cracks me up. Part of it is the fact that we are around the same age and have some of the same influences...

Grab the EVOO

EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) is an acronym which causes me to visibly whence when I hear it uttered.  There are a few kitchen celebrities I abhor…..however Rachel Ray is one of them.  I have nothing against her per-se except the nauseating repetition with which she...
