Jay Chandrasekhar

Born April 9, 1968

Love Jay Chandrasekhar and all things Broken Lizard. Whether he is rolling with that crew, doing stand up, or producing movies on his own – Chandrasekhar always brings the funny.

Noteworthy

  • Super Troopers – director/actor – This was the first Broken Lizard movie that I watched. Also, the first movie that I saw Chandrasekhar act in. This is an annual watch for me.
  • The Dukes of Hazzard – director/actor – I know that a lot of critics did not like this movie but they are wrong. It is funny, it is inventive, and it is completely rewatchable.
  • Beerfest – director/actor – Same kind of style as Super Troopers and a lot of the same people make an appearance. I watch this movie for the last scene when they are chugging beer versus the Germans.
  • Psych – director – If you have ever listened to our podcast – Procrs10ation – then you know how much I love this show. I am going to have to go back and just watch the episodes that Chandrasekhar directed.
  • Community – director – Again, terrific show and I had no idea that Chandrasekhar directed some of the episodes. Gonna have to find them and stream them. Hulu here I come.
  • The Goldbergs – director – This is currently my favorite show on television. Knowing that Chandrasekhar had a hand in some of the episodes makes me happy.
  • Super Troopers 2 – director/actor – I am so thrilled to revisit this world. Many years later revisiting these characters is going to be perfect and I for one say: Take My Money.

Everybody wants to make more movies. You see any movie, and it’s just a feat of human strength and perseverance. It is a brutally challenging business.

Star Wars: The FanBoy Awakens

I am a bit late to the party when it comes to Star Wars: The Force Awakens but it certainly is enough of a pop-culture phenom that I want to take some time to give it some love. For me this could have been renamed - Star Wars: The FanBoy Awakens! First things first, I...

Rowdy Roddy Piper

Rowdy Roddy Piper Born April 17, 1954   Rowdy Roddy Piper is my all time favorite professional wrestler. He was the best bad guy. He was the logical voice of reason... most of the time. He was completely unpredictable. I was an idiot and did not go to see him when he...
Christian Finnegan

Christian Finnegan

Christian Finnegan

Born Aril 1, 1973

New York native Christian Finnegan is a brilliant stand up comedian. Ad to that his acting chops and his writing abilities and you have someone at home in front of the cameras or on a stage. A matter-of-fact delivery and satirical style are his calling cards all the while taking jabs at everything from politics to pop-culture.

Noteworthy

  • Chappelle’s Show – This was the first thing that I saw Finnegan in. He played the only white roommate on Chappelle’s take on The Real World.
  • Are We There Yet? – Finnegan plays the recurring role of Martin on this series that is a spin-off from the movie of the same name.
  • The Jim Gaffigan Show – Just to show that Finnegan truly is the man he has been on the Jim Gaffigan show. Just sayin’.

The thing is – I’m not an idiot. I’m rather intelligent, as proven by the fact that I just used the word ‘rather’ in a sentence.

Call Me Lucky

Why Do I Watch

Jason Segel Friend to Muppets

Jason Segel "I'm not a gay pirate, I have sex with my parrot all the time!... OK, that came out wrong." - Marshall - How I Met Your Mother Noteworthy How I Met Your Mother -  I love this show. I don't love the storyline but the characters more than make up for that....
Paul Reiser

Paul Reiser

Paul Reiser

Born March 30, 1957

Paul Reiser has helped to shape our popular culture through his comedy, his writing, his roles in movies or television. Whether you are enjoying Reiser trading quips with a talk show host or appearing on the large or small screen, Reiser’s own views and way of telling a story shine through.

Noteworthy

  • Aliens – Reiser was Burke in Aliens. While this is not my favorite part of the Aliens franchise I did dig Paul Reiser in this role.
  • My Two Dads – This is the first thing that I ever saw Paul Reiser in. I loved this show. It was a typical 80s sitcom. It had some very funny parts and tried to wing a little drama at you from time to time.
  • Mad About You – Potentially this is Resier most famous role. He was Paul Buchman for the full 162 episodes opposite the always amazing Helen Hunt. Great 90s sitcom that again had a little drama to go along with the funny.
  • Stranger Things – This is one of the best things that Netflix has ever turned out. Resier is Dr Sam Owens on the show. If you have not reached this point in Resier career… stop reading this and go watch Stranger Things.

And after you’ve done the acting, there’s a lot of places you can put your input – in the editing, in the production of it, in the rewriting of it and so on.

Geena Davis

Geena Davis - Born January 21, 1956 I love and admire Genna Davis. She is an amazing actress and thoughtful human being, and one of those people that I think it would be fun to break-bread with. Just picking her brain on the topics of the day would be mind-blowing....

Christopher Walken

Christopher Walken Born March 31, 1943   Christopher Walken is one of those actors that you look for in a movie, that you hope will pop up in a cameo for no good reason. Walken improves any film he makes an appearance in. His quirky nature, his odd delivery of lines...

Vince Vaughn

Vince Vaughn

Vince Vaughn

Born March 28, 1970

Vince Vaughn is fantastic. I love him in every role that I see him in. And, as you may have heard one more than one of our podcasts – I want him to be in every movie. And if he can’t have a speaking role just have him walk through the scene and wave at the camera. We need more Vince Vaughn. Vaughn delivers fast-paced dialogue better than anyone else. I am going to try and include some of the snippets from the movies below just for reference. I bet you can hear him speaking the lines.

Noteworthy

  • Swingers – This was the first major motion picture that I remember seeing Vaughn in. I can sum this movie up with one line: Baby, that was money! Tell me that wasn’t money.
  • Clay Pigeons – Vaughn as Lester the Molester: Some people just need-NEED-killing.
  • Psycho – No dialogue from this one. This movie a few others are proof of just how talented an actor Vaughn is. It takes someone special to step into Anthony Perkins shoes.
  • Dodgeball – The stripper was meant to be congratulatory.
  • Anchorman – What, you guys can’t say one thing? Even the guy that can’t think said something. You guys just stand there? Come on.
  • Wedding Crashers – Yeah, it could have been the soft mattress. Or the midnight rape. Or the nude gay art show that took place in my room. One of those probably added to the lack of sleep.

My father came from nothing, so he believed that people could do anything if they worked hard enough. I think he liked that I chose to be an actor. Both he and my mom were totally supportive.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar

Mark-Paul Gosselaar Born March 1, 1974   Mark-Paul Gosselaar, yes, Zack Morris his own self. I figured we covered Kelly earlier in the year, why not Zack. Noteworthy Saved by the Bell - This is one of those shows that I probably watched too much as a kid, young adult,...

Martin Short

Martin Short

Martin Short

Born March 26, 1950

I LOVE Martin Short.

Noteworthy

  • Three Amigos – One of my all-time favorite comedies. Short plays Ned, one of the Amigos. His physicality, wit, and delivery are all top notch in this movie. Comedy perfection.
  • Innerspace – Fantastic Voyage meets the late 80s. Martin SHort and Dennis Quiad don’t even share the same scenes that often but they have such a fun chemistry in this movie. I am looking forward to re-visiting this one.
  • Jiminy Glick – Almost horrible and almost un-loveable, Glick has the interviewing bed-side-manner of a hammer wrapped in black licorice. That being said he is a train wreck that is hard to turn away from.
  • I Must Say: My Life as a Humble Comedy Legend – This is a wonderful snapshot of Martin Short’s life. I listened to the audio version of this, which he read, if you are a fan of audio books – get this one.

I think I’m funny because my family, my siblings were funny.

Manimal

CBR.com had an article called: 15 CLASSIC SUPERHERO SHOWS THAT NEED TV REBOOTS. They covered a plethora of shows most of which I saw when they came out or at least caught them in reruns. There was something missing though. One show that came out in 1983 that was...

Tag You Are It Eddie Cahill

Chris Parnell - Born February 5, 1967 I love Chris Parnell. He is like white wine vinegar, he brightens the whole recipe. He is like a chili pepper in the chili - you miss it when it is not there. He, much like Vince Vaughn should just make an appearance in every...
