Here is Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Top 5 from This Geeks World. Included this time is a predictive result for a movie that has not hit yet but trust me it is going to be incredible.

#5 The Odd Life of Timothy Green – A childless couple bury a box in their backyard, containing all of their wishes for an infant. Soon, a child is born, though Timothy Green is not all that he appears.Miranda plays Reggie. It is a small role in a great film but you can see him shine.

#4 We are Freestyle Love Supreme – This documentary follows the 15-year journey of the founding members of the improv hip-hop group Freestyle Love Supreme, as they reflect upon why this show remains such an important piece of their personal, creative, and professional history–from the basement of the Drama Bookshop in NYC to the Broadway stage.

#3 In the Heights – This one is supposed to drop in 2021. I have seen the trailer over nad over and over. The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi, who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.

#2 Mary Poppins Returns – In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

#1 Hamilton – An unforgettable cinematic stage performance, the filmed version of the original Broadway production of “Hamilton” combines the best elements of live theater, film and streaming to bring the cultural phenomenon to homes around the world for a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime experience. I will see this live!

Lloyd Bridges Top FiveLloyd Vernet Bridges Jr. (January 15, 1913  March 10, 1998) was an American film, stage, and television actor who starred in a number of television series and appeared in more than 150 feature films. He was the father of four children, including the actors Beau Bridges and Jeff Bridges.

He started his career as a contract performer for Columbia Pictures, appearing in films such as Sahara (1943), A Walk in the Sun (1945), Little Big Horn (1951) and High Noon (1952). On television, he starred in Sea Hunt from 1958 to 1961. By the end of his career, he had re-invented himself and demonstrated a comedic talent in such parody films as Airplane! (1980), Hot Shots! (1991), and Jane Austen’s Mafia! (1998).

Among other honors, Bridges was a two-time Emmy Award nominee. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 1, 1994.

Let’s take a look at Lloyd Bridges Top Five fro This Geeks World!

#5 The Fifth Musketeer – Lloyd Bridges, his son Beau Bridges, Ursula Andress, Olivia de Haviland, Ian McShane, Rex Harrison… holy crap! This is Hollywood gold. It is not an amazing great movie but it is a lot of fun to watch just for the Hollywood Royalty that is on the screen. 1979 didn’t do another Musketeer based movie this good.

#4 Hot Shots – Another parody movie that took potshots at pop culture like mad. Potentially this is one of Charlie Sheen’s best movies ever. Lloyd Bridges is Admiral Benson and his straight n-sell delivery provides some of the best humor in the movie.

#3 Honey I Blew up the Kids – Let’s through in a kids movie because Bridges really has done it all. Giant baby and a Holywood legend like Lloyd Bridges trying to stop the baby as it runs rampant through the town.

#2 High Noon – One of the best westerns of ALL time. 1052 High Noon stars: Gary Cooper, Grace Kelly, Lon Chaney Jr, Harry Morgan, Lee Van Cleef, and of course Lloyd Bridges. This film helped set the stereotype for the western genre as much as any other movie in film history.

#1 Airplane! – here is my pick for number one. Airplane is one of those movies from my childhood that ha snot lost a step. It is not very ‘woke’ but it is very funny and full of cameos from all of the pop culture icons of the day. Add to that the fact that this is a Zucker movie and you have something that is worth watching every time you get a chance.

Jason Bateman here is your This Geeks World Top 5. Please keep in mind that these are his movie roles and certainly do not touch what he has done in dramatic series like Ozark.

#5 Necessary Roughness – This is an oldie but a goodie. It is also one of my favorite football movies, being right up there with Varsity Blues. Batemen plays a walk-on college student who just wants to play and make his family proud. He does get to run the ball in and get a touchdown, one of the many feel-good moments of the movie.

#4 Smokin’ Aces – Bateman has the briefest of cameos. He is a drunken lawyer that helps Afflecks crew with information on their target. He is hysterical, it is almost as good as Tom Cruise playing the oversized agent in Tropic Thunder.

#3 Game Night – Bateman and Rachel McAdams hoist a game night with tier friends. Being very competitive they attempt to take it up a notch and the evening gets more than a little out of control. Such a fun movie.

#2 Horrible Bosses – Another great comedy from Jason Bateman. He and Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis have such great chemistry in this movie. And their interactions with each other is only surpassed by the three antagonists in the film played by Kevin Spacey, Colin Farrell, and of course Jennifer Aniston. This is one of those flicks that rolls through your mind every once in a while when you just want to watch an almost perfect comedy.

#1 Identity Thief – Saw this one in the theater. Made a fool of myself laughing so loud that my sides hurt. Bateman and Melissa McCarthy are epic and play so well together. Just a great movie all the way around. If you want an absurdist comedy to watch, this is it.

Upcoming Horror Video Games for 2021

Upcoming Horror Video Games for 2021

Upcoming Horror Movies for recently posted a list of the 31 horror video games they are most looking forward to for 2021. This isn’t going to be the full list from Bloody Disgusting, this is just the picks of the litter that caught my eye. Remember, these are games that are supposed to make an appearance in 2021 and release dates are always subject to change.

  • Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood: I am so glad they are finally doing an adaptation of the Werewolf tabletop game from WhiteWolf. Apparently, you get to play as a werewolf roaming through the American Northwest. I am sold, take my money. This might be the final pin that makes me go after a PS5.
  • Scorn – I doubt that I will ever play this but I am intrigued. Coming out for PC and XBox Series X is an HR Giger-inspired horror game. I can’t imagine that it is going to be Aliens come to life but you know it is going to look very, very cool.
  • Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 – OK, so I am old and I played all of the WhiteWolf tabletop games when they came out in the 90s. Needless to say, I am going to be all over this one as well. A werewolf game and a vampire game in the same year. I might just weep.
  • Evil Dead: The Game – I am super-excited and very dubious all at the same time. I am assuming that they got Bruce Campbell to voice Ash. If they didn’t they can go hang. This has a chance to be awesome or to suck… a lot. We shall see. Bring on the boomstick!

Here is the This Geeks World Orlando Bloom Top 5

#5 Troy – Bloom plays Paris in this telling of Homer’s epic tale. This is a wide, sweeping, epic of a movie with great casting truly wonderful action. While bloom is certainly not the lead in this he brings his ‘a’ game and shines through in every scene.

#4 Elizabethtown – A little dark. A lot quirky. Bloom is home to say goodbye to his father who has passed away. In the midst, he meets and falls for Kirsten Dunst a stewardess who has ended up in the same place. This is a very solid darker rom-com with a great script and a lot of heart. it is high on the list of my all-time, romantic comedies.

#3 Lord of the Rings Trilogy – The relationship between Gimili and Legolas are the buddy cops of the LotR trilogy. Their humor and passion and bravery put a little more glow on the series and help to lighten some very grim scenes and dire circumstances.

#1 & #2 Pirates of the Caribbean Series – I know, I am cheating, but I am counting the first three PotC movies as one and two. While Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow is the heart of the movies, they might not have been as good without Orlando Bloom as the straight guy to Depp’s deranged pirate.

Happy Birthday, Orlando Bloom!
