This week… Procras10ation Episode 15 – The One Where Daniel Renews TV As We Know It. We are trying to bring back TV from the past. We are looking at TV shows that we would like to bring back. This week we look at Daniel’s Top 5 picks.
Binge-ing ER – I didn’t remember Mark Green being such a dick. Romano is a dick but you know he is going to be a dick so it is ok. ER ran for 15 seasons. For real 15 Seasons. It started a lot of careers and there were a lot of cameos.
Listening to the Relevant podcast they were talking about bringing TVs shows back from the past. We have decided to do the same thing.
Shout out about the new Dark Tower TV series. It is on one of the cable channels
Cartoon in the mid-90s called Reboot. They have reinvented this show.
We could not think of Giovanni Ribisi’s name. Sorry, Mr. Ribisi.
Thundercats – A new release of the classic cartoon show. Better animation, action-oriented and very stabby-stabby. We cannot think of the names of any of the villains. We know all of the names of the heroes for no reason at all.
Daniel wants to reboot this as a real, serious show. No Hasselhoff. Modern cars – Fast and Furious style.
Jason’s idea is to have the same car and Hasselhoff as he is now. There is a link between KITT and Siri on Michael’s phone. He has become a bounty hunter and it is really just failed bounty hunter attempts.
The Wonder Years set in the late 80s and early 90s. The Wonder Years is a tough watch now. This is the Goldbergs without all the funny. This hits on all of the pieces of the end of the 80s and early 90s.
Friends – This is a continuation of the series that ended 14 years ago. Ross and Rachel come back from Europe. Joey comes back from the West coast. Phoebe is living in Monica’s apartment. Chandler and Monica move back to the city with their kids. This could be huge. Joey is the only one with steady work but this could be much bigger. They step back into their lives… just 14 years later.
The X-Men – reboot of the 90s X-Men cartoon. It was well written and true to the comics. The could dig back into the comics like the 90s version did. It ran for 5 Seasons and there was not a bad one in the bunch. Stick with a timeless animation style, make it 3D and keep the same voice actors.
Procras10ation Episode 15 – The One Where Daniel Renews TV As We Know It
Tell us what you think. Let us know what you want to see remade. Tell us what we got wrong and tell us what we got right.
This week… Procras10ation Episode 14 – The One Where We Teach You To Preview Review. A new feature on our YouTube channel: The Preview Rewind. Something YouTuber-ish from ThisGeeks World. A commentary track for a trailer that you have probably seen and that you didn’t ask for.
We are going to start with the Best Picture nominees and winners for 2017.
The Preview Rewind is about our love of trailers. the teaser the advertisement for the trailer.
We dig into the beauty that is a trailer. We get mad when we are not allowed to see the trailer at a movie. We know that we could watch the
We both hate on Hurricane Heist for a few minutes. This movie looks horrible. Why would anyone watch this piece of crap? Click here for the trailer – if you dare. And yes, Jason has seen all of the Sharknado movies.
The trailer is an art form. The trailer can make or break the movie, or at least help you decide whether you actually want to see it or not.
The Venom trailer left Daniel feeling a bit meh. Apparently, that is the feeling overall but it will still be watched. We predict Woody Harrelson as Carnage and some Woddy on Hardy love.
This week… Procras10ation Episode 13 – The One Where We Make Chicken Salad Out Of Justice League. We have finally both watched Justice League. We are trying to be fair-ish. We are trying to be less negative than we want to be… we might not succeed.
Jason is glad that he didn’t see this in the theater. He would have asked for his money back.
We are blaming Zack Snyder for most of the bad portions of this movie.
This week… Procras10ation Episode 12 – The One Where 7 Ate 9 Star Wars. We crawl all over episodes 7 and 8 and cast some predictions toward episode 9. We hope we are right but who knows.
The first geek question to Daniel is a reference to about 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
Penelope Makes her appearance early in this episode.
Jason yawns and owes everyone a beer.
Phasma Episode 3.5.2: A Star Wars Story
Another yawn – another beer.
There is a brief Maxell/Memorex debate. Jason is thinking about two different commercials.
Walking Dead shout out to the Garbage Pail Kids chopped up zombie slurry.
Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Very much a remake and an homage to A New Hope. It had humor, it had great CGI, you had those heroic moments, you had good acting. There were plenty of similarities to the movie that you liked.
You hated the prequels so here is a lot of stuff you liked out of the first one.
Kylo Ren stops a blaster bolt during the opening scenes of the movie. He can stop light. That is how powerful he is.
We think that Phasma took her helmet off during 7 but we really are not sure.
We meet Poe and Finn during the first few minutes of the movie and then you meet Rey and you start to like them immediately.
Then you get Princess Leia – immediately.
JJ Abrams corrected the badness of the prequels right off the bat.
What is the connection between Force Awakens and Black Panther? Lupita Nyong’o. She was the voice of Maz.
Jedi philosophy question: Is the Dark Side of the Force and the SIth the same thing or flavors of a religion.
We want Rey to be a Grey Jedi.
Han dying made us cry and part of it was because we had an actual actor. Fuckin’ Hayden Christensen. We got an Adam Driver and he can emote. When Yoda told all of the emotions that led to the Dark Side he was speaking about Adam Driver.
Jason digs into the argument about Kylo Ren being challenged by Finn. This argument if broken down.
Episode VIII: The Last Jedi
Jason wants more Phasma.
People are missing the point that the Jedi are sneaky, sneaky bastards. Obi-Wan snuck all over the Death Star to get the Falcon out of the docking bay.
Luke dying was perfect. Loved the fact that he used the force to trick Kylo Ren and the First Order while not even on the planet. Luke made himself look like he did when he was almost considering murdering Kylo. This was a guy that had not used the force in a long time. He had been living on the planet milking this weird creature and drinking its teat milk. It was worse that he stared at Rey the whole time. We speculate that this might have been a huge pimple.
Daisy Ridley’s WTF face is fantastic.
Yoda burns down the tree of knowledge. That might have been in the garden of Eden or in the movie Hook – we aren’t sure which.
There should have been a pic of Lando behind the door when the come into the casino like he had been banned from the casino – holding a Colt 45.
Episode IX: Un-Named
Maybe we get a mention of Order 66 during Episode 9.
Jason wants Vince Vaughn to be in Episode 9 as Benecio’s best friend.
We think we will get to see Leia pass away at some point in 9. The older characters have to die in these movies so that you can hand the story off to the new generation of heroes.
Leia has to die and Kylo might kill her. He killed his father and has to kill his mother, maybe.
Kylo might be changing over to the light side but maybe not.
Does Kylo actually know anything about Rey’s parents? Are Rey’s parents just a red herring?
Snoke getting killed means that all bets are off. Anything can happen and anyone might die.
Yoda and Luke haunt Kylo throughout this movie.
Procras10ation Episode 12 – The One Where 7 Ate 9 Star Wars – we are done with our triliogy of Star Wars films for the time being. There are more coming out so you know we will revisit this topic.
This week… Procras10ation Episode 11 – The One Where We Fondle The Original Trilogy. The trilogy that started it all. We jump back to 1977 and start with Episode 4.
I am not sure how we got into this conversation or why we chose to open the podcast this way. I promise most of our podcasts do not start this way.
The Prequels are the “Meh” of the Star Wars universe. You watch them and buy them just because. If you are watching through the movies with a Star Wars virgin then you watch them. With Star Wars we are both completists, we will watch and own them all. That is not true with all movies (X3 for instance).
George Lucas Scrooge McDuck reference for the second week in a row.
Jason’s really bad Wookie impersonation.
Wookie’s have prehensile penises. There may be more Wookie sex talk later.
We like the special editions better with the exception of Greedo shooting first. Jason even likes the bigger dance scene with Max Rebo’s band and the longer celebration in the Ewok village.
We think Disney will eventually give us all the versions of the movie in one collection.
An impressive impersonation is an impressination.
Jason meant Return when he talked about the movie coming out in 1983 – he is just stupid.
Daniel doesn’t know who played Wicket.
We bash on Top Gun and love on Hot Shots for a few minutes.
The Whisperer has arrived (Jason’s wife). She is not a Star Wars fan.
Penelope he Podcast Puppy has made her appearance. She likes Star Wars but doesn’t like The Walking Dead.
Greedo was more of a loan shark. He was Chili Palmer from Get Shorty. One Rodian and then he was dead.
Luke and Han in the Storm Trooper armor til the end of the movie. Han working the control board in the prison block is Jason’s favorite part of the A New Hope.
Daniel calls the clumsy storm trooper fat. He wasn’t fat he was just really tall and whacked his head on the ceiling.
Daniel says that the comment about running laps around the church lost us an audience. They were gone a long time ago… in a galaxy far far away.
Penelope’s imitation of a Wookie having sex.
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Release Date: June 20, 1980 – Director: Irvin Kershner
We want to believe that Yoda is from Dagobah. He killed all the rest of the people on Dagobah and lived there alone.
5 is Jason’s favorite and Daniels second favorite of the original trilogy.
The storyline is terrific. It is not the usual story. Vader wins. The Rebellion is scattered. And this had the first big plot twist that I remember seeing in a movie.
Here is the ending and you have to wait three years to see what happened next.
The VHS version of Empire dropped in 1982. People probably watched it at home before they jumped on to Return.
Start with Hoth and the glorious battle on the planet. AT-ATs and snow speeders. How come they had X-Wings on the planet about to launch – why didn’t they attack the AT-ATs with the X-Wings. They had bombers on the planet too but they didn’t use them either. Then the asteroid belt and then Dagobah. The first shot of Slave I in movie history. Slave I the flying codpiece or the flying foot.
We try to figure out the reasoning behind all of the stuff on Boba Fett.
We get introduced to Lando Calrissian in Empire. The coolest man in the galaxy. We are so ready to see Donald Glover in the Han Solo standalone movie.
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
Release Date: May 25, 1983 – Director: Richard Marquand
We open with the droids. Then we go through Jabba’s Palace. Back to Endor after the Sarlacc pit. Jabba’s Palace is act one. From Dagobah to the landing on Endor is act two. This is a quick movie. and before you know it you are at the end of the movie.
You get a plot twist in this movie. You get that flip of Leia and Luke being brother and sister. Yoda is the kid’s character and then he is dead. He is the hook for kids and they let him die. Then Alec Guinness comes in and drops the mic on the Skywalker twins.
The Whisperer has deemed that Rey should have a pink lightsaber in the ninth movie.
The name that Jason was looking for was Dule Hill. Freaking love Dule Hill and Psych the TV show.
