Alan Tudyk

Born March 16, 1971

Alan Tudyk has embraced the geek over and over in his career. I will watch him in just about anything and go out of my way to keep an eye on what he has been in or what he has coming out soon. Below is such a small list of what he has done, I am leaving a lot out. Damn, I love Alan Tudyk.

Noteworthy

  • A Knight’s Tale – Tudyk plays Wat. He is one of William’s band of compatriots. Wat is the brash hot head of the group and one of the main reason that I can watch it over and over and over.
  • Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story – Steve the Pirate. I don’t know that I need to say anything else. Tudyk played a guy who identified as a pirate.
  • Tucker and Dale vs Evil – I LOVE this movie and I will watch it when there is nothing else that strikes my fancy. Tudyk is Tucker – a country boy that just wants to enjoy some fishing at his new cabin. Horror is close at hand and there is a lot of funny mixed in with a truly good plot.
  • Wreck-It Ralph – Tudyk is King Candy and he is doing his best Ed Wynn impersonation the whole time.
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – As one of the big names in all of Geekdom, Tudyk made the step into the Star Wars Universe by voicing K-2SO one of the best droids to ever come out of that particular realm of space-based fantasy.

Reading is a heady thing. You can be into the action of someone’s thoughts and take a whole trip down someone’s ruminations while seconds tick by in the world that they’re in, but you can’t really do that in film.

Neck-Deep in a Long Box

Go get Neck-Deep in a Long Box! I mean it. I cannot tell you the number of hours I spent, as a kid, digging through back issues in long boxes no matter where they were. Digging through long boxes at a comic book store was one of my favorite activities as a young comic...

Grab the EVOO

EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) is an acronym which causes me to visibly whence when I hear it uttered.  There are a few kitchen celebrities I abhor…..however Rachel Ray is one of them.  I have nothing against her per-se except the nauseating repetition with which she...

Mike Rowe

Mike Rowe Born March 18, 1962   Dirty Jobs is still my favorite Mike Rowe vehicle. Noteworthy Dirty Jobs - Rowe got down and dirty doing those jobs that you probably would not want to do and in some cases, jobs that you didn't even know were being done, to begin with....

This Ain’t Your Daddy’s Freebird

It never fails, I’m walking through a farmers’ market and I hear someone in a hushed tone say ‘oh my god, did you see how much that (fill in the blank) was?’  Usually, it is because of an $18 hen, $8 dozen eggs, or a $38 New York strip.  These prices seem...

Johnny Knoxville

Johnny Knoxville Born March 11, 1971   Johnny Knoxville is one of my favorite celebrities. He is his own person. He stays out of the bullshit, for the most part, and just does his own thing. he makes unique choices and again seems to be his own person in a society of...
